Jury Duty

So earlier in the month I had jury duty and was selected for a trial that happened today. It was a civil suit between a homeowners association and a tenant. They whole thing was over a 11×18 deck that was removed because the basement was leaking and it was in the way.The woman paid about $1300 to have it built and wants $7150 now to have it replaced. She had it built with free labor and the deck was 8 years old so we gave her $1980.

The jury sat around in the little room from 9am to 11:20am, heard openings and the woman's 2 witnesses then broke for lunch. at 1:30pm we came back to sit around for another 30 minutes to find that we just had closing arguments to hear. We heard them then deliberated for about 20-30 minutes, and then were out at about 3pm.

fun times……

Happy Holidays

So the past week or so has been crazy. Last week was spent prepping Christmas presents. The last part of the week Bridgit and I hung out with my family. I sung in the midnight mass choir at Holy Trinity then on Christmas morning my family opened presents and played Cranium. Then I went to Bridgit's Grandmothers in Dearborn. That was followed by exchanging gifts with her immediate family. The next day we had breakfast at Dan and Betsy's with a bunch of friends before mass. After mass we went to Bridgit's aunt and uncles for brunch, then to Michael and Kathleens to see Thersea open her presents. The we had dinner. Yesterday I went to Dan's to start candy then a bunch of us (Sarah, Dan, Dan, Eric, Holly, Bridgit, and I) went XC skiing at Hudson Mills. This might be a good time to add that Bridgit got me new, beefy, ski boots. We then made pizza and then went to Dan and Betsy's to get rid of some wine.

As you can see its been a hectic few days.

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!!!!

blog spammers

So today I noticed that over the past couple days most of my posts had a lot of comments. They were all from some stupid casino. I ended up deleting about 2000 comments. The worst part was that they were from a ton of different IP's so I couldn't just ban IP's. I now have a blacklist that prevents comments from known spammers. Also I have added a couple expressions, which means you can't post any comments with the words “poker” or “debt consolidation” in them.

beautiful day

It was beautiful out (for the time of year). It was sunny and in the high 40's, so I went paddling. All the leaves have changed, and most are off the trees. We have had quite a bit of rain and snow over the past couple weeks, so the water is higher that it was last month.

OtR

The concert was great. I went with Bridgit, Holly, Abe, Bob, and Brenden. Griffin House opened, and they were so great that we bought both of their albums. OtR was awesome as usual. They only did 2 encores, and the second was only Karin doing one song. Last year we got 3 encores out of them…

been 4 years

In a couple weeks it will be 4 years that I have worked at the labs. It's time to move on since I will no longer be a student. I am also training Joe and Rob how to keep the labs running. That will be fun!!!!
