Wigglin'

It's safe to say Amelia is moving. Tom put her in the middle of the quilt, and here she is… photolink
(Awesome quilt made by Erich Harbowy's mother. Thanks!!!) There's also phtos of Eli in soccer socks that he put on himself, and a few photos after going to the park on a cold day: Eli has some pretty sweet clothes on.
She's also gigglin', especially when Eli does anything goofy, which is most of the time, so we have a pretty spirited home theses days.

It's hard to imagine….

Today we were reading bedtime stories and I had Amelia and Eli on my lap. We were reading Caps for Sale, one of his favorites. Eli practically has the whole book memorized. As he/I read the book Amelia giggled the entire time. She thought the monkeys saying “tsk, tsk, tsk” was hilarious.

Also Eli has decided that Marching Bands are the best thing ever. He is going to be a marching band member for Halloween. We took a couple videos of him because it is so amusing.

Poop goes in the Potty

We have been potty training for a couple weeks now and things are going well, He usually has no more then and couple accidents a day and sleeps in a diaper at night. He really doesn't like going poop in the potty, and when he does he freaks out and wants it out of his potty.

Things Eli is currently afraid of:

  • poop
  • planes (only when he is alone, or perceives himself to be)
  • clowns
  • Not Norman (there is a part with a screech and a scratch from a branch on the window)

Things Eli is has no fear of :

  • trains
  • drills
  • saws

I remember my brother, Jon, being terrified of ET. Speaking of that ET star Drew Barrymore has been wandering around our neighborhood. She is directing a movie that is being filmed at a nearby house. The past few weekends out streets have been packed with trucks trailers. Eli is pleased.

  • Words I'll miss

Eli has been talking up a storm lately, often quite clearly. This great improvement in speech means we have to say goodbye to some cute words.
No more canpakes (pancakes), Gammy (Grammy), or pedos (torpedos, the kind you throw in the pool).
Elijah has also decided we get to say goodbye to diapers except at naptime & overnight. That's a pretty awesome goodbye.

    More baby stuff

Well, it has been a bit over a week now and having two isn't much different then on, just more of everything.

    • man do they poop A LOT when they are little. We had to get some more diaper inserts .
    • She is sleeping well, and only getting up twice a night to nurse, one of them with a diaper change.
    • There are some more photos uploaded. Click the photos link above.
    • Being off has been nice.

    Healthy Kids

Yesterday I told Eli something that has probably never before been uttered to any child: “you have to eat some more pizza before you can have more broccoli.” That was last night.

Tonight after dinner he snuck in to the kitchen and crawled on a chair to get a fresh, uncooked green bean that was left over from dinner.

So we try to eat pretty healthy, and we also try to feed our kids the same way. Eli refuses to eat Kraft Singles and other faux cheese. He prefers actual cheese. Apparently this has paid off.

    Amelia Rose Cook

    Born July 5th 2008 5:45 am
    7lbs 13oz
    21″ log

So the plan was a homebirth, active labor started about 8pm on the 4th. After a while pushing the C-Section scar started really hurting and the decision was made that we might be close to a uterine rupture (sounds as bad as it is) so to play it safe we transfered to St. Joes around 4:30am. Baby and Mom looked like they were doing fine so she went ahead and kept pushing and the baby was born at 5:45. They are coming home today. Eli is excited to be a big brother.

    Some photos are here.
