Olympic Coverage

Anyone else pissed at the olympic coverage? We only have basic, basic cable so we only get the NBC coverage and not supplemental coverage on the other NBC channels like MSNBC. Even though when the Beijing games started I looked at the schedules of all the events that I wanted to see and almost none of them were being carried on anything. No shooting, fencing, and only one mention of canoe/kayak finals (on USA channel). I watched the first night to see if I could see a recap of the US Women sweeping all three medals in Sabre and scoring the first Gold for the US of the games, but no. Instead we got to see Michael Phelps swim, followed by a few replays. On Wed. this week I tried to watch some in the morning and caught some Taekwondo (on the CBC of course) and then watched mens hurdles. What did they show in primtime that same night. The very same hurdles. The best part is they can take a race that lasts a matter of seconds and replay it over and over since it is so short.

The US Women win the gold in soccer, but Telemundo carries it. What does NBC have? beach volleyball.

At least here we have the option to watch CBC, for some better coverage. Too bad they lost the rights i Canada. For the 2010 winter games and 2012 Bejing games the contract went elsewhere.

GGGGGRRRRRR!!!!!!

Re-Suspension of Disbelief

So I have had the oppurtunity to check out Hulu, and is it awesome. They have a good selection of shows, better then when I checked out Joost a while back. They have the full collection of the Highlander TV show, which I have been watching. I watched them on USA ages ago and seeing them in sequential order is really cool.

I always wondered how they were able to pull a 3-4' sword out of nowhere at a moments notice, and then put it back in a second into their coat without a scabbard. Forget immortals fighting with swords, this is the real suspension of disbelief.

Joost

Today I got a joost invite, and its pretty great. Joost is an online TV service brought to you by the same people who brought you Skype. I have watched a few things now, the quality isn't top noch, but its not bad. The downer, its not available for PPC Macs…yet. Oh, and like gmail was at the beginning its invite only, if anyone wants an invite let me know.
